VISTA and Windows7 users: Help with installation

Torrid Tech Support 1 February 10, 2010

Users of the Windows Vista and Windows7 operating system have extra steps that need to be followed in order for the MCP Premium software to install. This is because of the new security features in Vista, and certain components in XP were not automatically updated in Vista.

PLEASE NOTE, these are the steps you MUST follow, if your computer is running Vista or Windows7:

  1. Turn off the User Account Control by un-checking the box found at Control Panel > 'User Accounts' (or 'User Accounts and Family Safety' > 'User Accounts') Complete instructions also as PDF attachment to this note.

  2. Proceed with MCP Suite download. Choose to "run" each file. If you encounter an error during download, try again using the "save" feature to your desktop. Then, doubleclick on the file on your desktop to install it. Repeat for all 3 files.

  3. If prompted to, download the required SQL 2005 Service Patch 2 updates. (This may appear when installing the MCP Suite 2007 main program file. Click the Microsoft link that apprears. Look for the "SQL 2005 Express" download appropriate to your computer.)

  4. After the SQL update completes, re-start the download & install of the MCP Suite program and proceed to the MCP Suite update file.

  5. Look for the MCP Suite icon on your desktop (not found in ‘Start > All Programs’) and double-click to open & register your software.
