How to Add RetirementView to Windows Defender Whitelist

SIGNS OF WINDOWS DEFENDER BLOCKING THE APP:

  • you cannot read/write files; File -> New gives an error
  • errors like "There is no Plan table"
  • on startup you get a message that "You must have internet access to run the program" and then it shuts down

HOW TO FIX:

Open Start Menu Search for “Windows Security” (the app by Microsoft) Go to Firewall & network protection

Click “Allow an app through firewall”

Click “Change settings” (you may need admin rights)

Look for your app in the list:

  • If you find it → check both Private and Public
  • If not → click “Allow another app…”
    • Browse to your app’s .exe  -> The RetirementView.exe is located at:
      • C:\Program Files\RetirementView\RetirementView.exe
    • Add it, then check both boxes

Click OK

Now start up RetirementView again and see if the problem has gone away.

If you still have issues then contact support by entering a ticket.
