---- How to Restore your Data from the Backups Folder ----
WINDOWS INSTRUCTIONS:
Make sure you are not running the software. If you are exit out or quit.
Open Explorer or My Computer so you can look at files on your hard drive.
Go to this location on your computer:
Documents\Torrid Technologies\Retirement Savings Planner\
Rename the file defaults.rp8 to something else.
Then go into the Backups folder:
Documents\Torrid Technologies\Retirement Savings Planner\Backups
Find a file in there that you think has your data. Look at the file date to find one to try from before you had a problem.
Copy that file.
Go back up one level back to the folder:
Documents\Torrid Technologies\Retirement Savings Planner\
Paste the file into that folder.
And rename it: defaults.rp8
Note: Can you see the file name endings? If you just see "defaults" without the .rp8 then you need to do the following....You have to make sure you see the file endings or extensions in windows to get this to work otherwise you will rename the file and it won't work. So make sure under Tools - Folder Options - View you have the box unchecked that says "Hide extensions of known file types"
Then start program. If this works it should have all your data restored. If it doesn't then something in the above was not done correctly, most likely the naming at the end. Or perhaps the file you recovered from backup also did not have any data.
***Note. If customer's files have been moved keep in mind that locating the most recent file and double clicking it won't restore or allow you to see whether or not the file has data. The file MUST be renamed, moved to the backups folder and the program reentered to see if the data within the file restores the application's fields.
