Issues:
Spoke to customer. He is getting a couple of error messages.
1) RetirementView has encountered a problem and needs to close....customer receives this message EVERY time he closes the software. On 2 different machines.
2) Instruction at 0X734EA266: reference memory at 0X0138CA70. Memory can not be read, application error.
He is using Windows XP Pro on one computer and I didn't note the OS on the other computer.
Possible Solutions:
Hello Tom
When the application closes it can try to call the AppUpdate feature. This feature does not work on every machine due to Windows hammering it for various reasons including thinking it should not connect to the internet. We have not been able to resolve that issue.
Best option is to go under the Help menu, check for updates, and DISABLE the AppUpdate check on exit. See if that at least prevents the errors from occurring.
Second, if you need to update the software itself, just go to this web page and install the PRO version:
http://www.torrid-tech.com/downloads/downloads.html
You would need to make sure the software is not running and as I understand your voicemail message, Tom, it is saying the program is indeed running... and the instructions I sent you about finding the process and ending it was not working for you.
So either you can restart your computer to ensure it is not running, and then run the installer after the restart, OR we can set up a time when I can look at your computer and try to fix this for you.
Customer:
I shutdown and then reinstalled. Problem solved. Also disabled AppUpdate feature and got rid of the error message when I close the program.
I appreciate your help and Rebecca’s too. I know you were looking forward to spending an hour or two on the phone trouble shooting but it will have to wait.
