Inflation adjusted retirement income goal

Originally from ticket #9138.

QUESTION:

Hi,
Does Retirement Planner 2013 the capability to show all future dollars in today's dollars? In other words, adjust for inflation so I can have a better idea of what yearly income in 2030 actually represents.

Thanks,
Dale

ANSWER:

Dale,

The program does indeed apply an inflation rate, that you get to set on the Other Assumptions tab. This inflation rate is applied to the retirement income goal, so that into the future you see what those inflated income amounts are.

In addition, if you use Special Expenses screen to enter other additional items, you can control the inflation rate before the item starts, and also the inflation to apply after it starts (in the case of multi-year expenses that you enter on that screen)
