We are getting a lot of people asking about Windows 8 Tablets, so this article is designed to let you know about the two main types and which ones are compatible with Torrid Tech's RetirementView software.
There are two types of Windows 8 Tablets.... Windows 8.1 RT and Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 RT - is NOT compatible with RetirementView
- here is the Microsoft page about RT and at bottom has additional information about the two operating systems (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/rt)
- the RT version only allows you to download and install apps from the Windows store and we have not put our app in the store yet
Windows 8.1 (without the RT) - is compatible with RetirementView (i.e. yes it works)
- you can run Windows 8.1 on tablets, laptops, desktops, etc. On Windows 8.1 you can install your own apps without going through the Windows store
- this version DOES run on tablets and can be quite effective in running RetirementView
- here is the link to the Microsoft page about Windows 8.1. including a list of tablets that run Windows 8.1
