Hi,
I had an SSD crash and am now trying to re-activate the software. When I click on the activate button, I get the attached error message:
Any ideas how I can get to the window to activate? Also, since I downloaded the latest version, will I need a new key, or will my 2014 couples key still work?
Thanks in advance,
Tom C.

Hey Tim,
This is like those airplane disaster movies "Did you have the chicken or the fish?"
Anyway, I decided to make a clean start of it and threw away the files in both the main library folder and in the user library folder.
This time, when I installed and launched the program for the first time, it asked for all of that data for myself and my wife.
When I went to the "Activate after Purchase" button, I got the same error message.
So, I went to the Registry.ini files in the user folder and it has all of the correct of the correct information. The other two files have todays date and time as well, though they appear to be generic Unix files.
The Registry.ini file is Read & Write for tomcarlson (me), but was set to Read Only for system and everyone. I changed those to Read & Write for those two, but that didn't stop the error message.
There are also the same three files in the system's Library folder, but those all have the 2012 dates on them, so haven't changed. Should those be trashed?
Tom
Also tried repairing permissions, but to no avail.
Should I just donate my computer to HealthCare.gov?
Tom
No, one other customer had this problem,
and we are trying to find the notes about what fixed it.
We have also emailed the other customer.
Make sure software is NOT running.
See if you can find the file called defaults.rp8.
Rename it to defaultsBAK.rp8.
Then run the software.
See if that makes any difference please.
Regards,
-Tim
That solved it!
Thanks for the help!
Question: I had already set up all of my data before my computer crashed before. Is that recoverable? I was able to make a copy of the disk before I formatted and reinstalled everything. So would that data file be available on the copy I made, or will I need to start over from scratch and re-enter it all?
