Hi,
This morning I presented a case to a client, using the software. A few questions arose.
1. When inputting non-qualified annuities and you want to delay pay out at a future date, how do I input that information. I can-not specify withdrawal dates or do any creative planning with annuities.
2. I request taxes to be withheld, but, it does not reflect the net income, on the income bar, at the top of the illustration. It will do it for Social Security, not the other amounts.
3. Is there any way to use “Freeze” for the annual scrolling bar, in more than one year or place?
4. Same scrolling bar, when I click on the bar to freeze-it-in-place, as soon as my mouse touches the graph the bar un-freezes. It would be advantageous to have the bar remain in place until I click on it, to un-freeze it.
There are more question/comments, but, they will wait.
Thank you,
Mike T.
Mike,
Some answers for you....
1. When inputting non-qualified annuities and you want to delay pay out at a future date, how do I input that information. I can-not specify withdrawal dates or do any creative planning with annuities.
- if you enter non-qual annuities as a non-qual investment, you are right you don't have any control over the payout except by setting the max withdrawal
- if you are ok with the program withdrawaing but just want to delay it, then enter the non-qual balance as a cash infusion that is a side fund and is injected at a future age as a big lumpsum into the non-qual... or even spread out into the non-qual. This will give you some finer control over the timing
2. I request taxes to be withheld, but, it does not reflect the net income, on the income bar, at the top of the illustration. It will do it for Social Security, not the other amounts.
- Mike, what are you wanting taxes withheld from? i.e. trying to figure out what you are referring to... pensions? non-qual? qual? something else?
3. Is there any way to use “Freeze” for the annual scrolling bar, in more than one year or place?
- no, the bar is meant to read the data at one specific year and populate the boxes at top so you can read the values... having more than one bar would not make sense as the data boxes can hold only one value
4. Same scrolling bar, when I click on the bar to freeze-it-in-place, as soon as my mouse touches the graph the bar un-freezes. It would be advantageous to have the bar remain in place until I click on it, to un-freeze it.
- the way it is supposed to work is that when you click it freezes... to unfreeze you have to double click or click off the graph somewhere
I can't tell what is causing the effect you mention. What version of windows or mac are you using?
