Issues in 2012.4 for Mac

2012.4g is latest release of the Native Mac version

KNOWN ISSUES: Here is a running list of issues in 2012.4 latest release.  If you have found an issue not on this list, please post a message or email giving details about it:

  1. Built-in Social Security estimate is not activating even when you have job income. We are still working on the built-in estimate.  Until it's done you have to hand enter an estimate. Getting the number from your SSA estimate is more accurate anyway. (Ed Schaider)  ALso if you didn't know this and click to use the built-in estimate and then click to not use it, one user reported that the plan was different than before clicking. For now just dont use this feature.
  2. Issues with the Printed Report: p. 4. Not quite sure what the chart is but I used 8% increases in the investment accounts but the chart is showing the base estimate at 6.68% , 4.89%. (Peter Cacioppo)
  3. Issues with the Printed Report: p.8 The Retirement Income Graph is stuck showing the same age for both client and spouse on the area next to the year even though they are different ages.
    p. 12 The paragraph on Taxes prints sort of: it gets to the word should and then there is the letter n and the two lines of blank space and then the letter g and then correct words ending with the word situation. (Peter Cacioppo)
  4. Couples edition: Saw one case where you edit investments on Investments screen... add to plan... exit program... re-open program and values on some investment lines were different... and not the "number that was there before the change" but seemingly random numbers.  Still looking into this (John Lehotsky)
DEFERRED ISSUES: Here is a running list of issues that we may decide to delay addressing until later because they are not mission critical so to speak.
  1. No View menu.  - Not required for App Store submission.  Don't think we need it.
  2. PRO only: On File open or new, the functionality to view, or load picture of client is not working.
  3. When either of the Investments, Cash Infusions and Special Expenses tabs are selected and then expanded (click on green + button), the list of 25 items should expand proportionately in relation to the other elements on the particular tab. I.e. the list of 25 is too small and is hard to read when the tab is expanded on a 27" iMac. (Jeff Skaare)
  4. Most recently used files in Windows should be "Open Recent..." on Mac and at different location on File menu.
  5. PRO: Tools menu items need to be finished coding and printing.

FIXED ISSUES: Here are the items from last Beta that are FIXED in this version:

  1. Contribution and match percentages were acting bizarre when you flip from dollars to percent and back.  We went through and redid the code on all those so that they work when changed and also get stored and loaded properly.
  2. Some investment types were not popping onto front screen when you hit add to plan on Investments.
  3. Printout: RMD calculations were not printing out properly.
  4. Printout: Some numbers that were percentages were printing out times 100... so 2% prints as 200%.  This did not affect calculations but just makes printout look weird.  Most of these have been fixed but a couple of different ones have been newly reported.
  5. If you put cursor on Taxable balance... open investments... add to plan... 500k appears but when you tab out it reverts to $0. (John Lehotsky)
  6. Pro: RMD calculations were being based on registered user birthdate rather than client file birthdate.  This caused a fair amount of problems in the RMD calculations, but it should be fixed now (2012.4e)
  7. Printout: p. 3 under the client estimated annal raise it prints out 200% even though 2 was input.  The computer does appear to compute the raises at 2% though.  (Peter Cacioppo)  (2012.4e)
  8. Printout: p. 5 The table labeled Agg inv Summary is correct for the tax-deferred investments but the next two lines are blank even though I had inputed items into the computer and they show up on other pages. (Peter Cacioppo)  (2012.4e)
  9. Add Row button on Special Expenses, Infusions, and Investments does not do anything; this is now fixed on all three screens (Wendy Howells)  (2012.4e)
  10. Taxable Investments - Retirement Return was not saving properly when you open and close program.  Also was not setting properly if moving from Investments back to main screen using Add to Plan.  This was due to a code bug using wrong variable there (2012.4f)
  11. We saw a case where Retirement Age displayed as 6.5e+1 instead of 65.  We believe this should not happen anymore (Sean McMillan) (2012.4f)
  12. Personal: A file with a low retirement age caused a NilObjectException when it was opened.  The problem was with a reference to check for a spouse that was invalid.  This has been corrected.  (Sean McMillan) (2012.4f)
  13. Spouse with Social Security benefits... the Social Security amounts were not showing on the spreadsheet or the retirement income graph (Peter Caciappo) (2012.4g)
  14. Soc Sec Taxable Percentage was formatted as $1 on the Spreadsheet.  It's now properly formatted as a % value (2012.4g)

If you were testing the Mac Beta versions, please re-install the file from the email we sent you.  On first screen it should say "Version 2012.4g" as the version on the splash screen (if you have the latest version that this post is discussing).
