We have released a new 2016 version of the MAC RetirementView software. Here are a list of the major changes in our Mac retirement software.
2016.3b
- ALL: We fixed display of Start Age showing in e+ notation on the Special Expenses screen. If you see this again let us know but it should be fixed now.
- PRO: Added code to not print Address 2 Line on cover page if it is blank.
- PRO: Fixed Copyright notice getting printed on top of paragraph 5 of Disclaimers page in some cases.
- ALL: On printing of the detailed report, if you clicked Save As PDF on the print viewer, you had to manually put .pdf on the file name or it would not store the file as a PDF on the drive and then would not launch the report into your PDF viewer. We added code to force .pdf onto the file name if you forget to add it.
- ALL: We changed the default Tax Type on Cash Infusions to be Taxable because 99% of the time that is what most cash infusions are. Previously the default was Tax-Deferred Qualified which is mainly for situations like rollovers.
- PRO: Changed menu so that New and Open and disabled if you have a client file open. That way you don't accidentally lose any changes and it indicates to the user that you have to Close the existing file before creating or opening another one.
- PRO: The File -> Print Fact Finder menu item was crashing on some macs when the fact finder was not in the location the program was looking for it. We have added code to put the fact finder into the right location and to check whether or not it exists so that program does not crash. And also, so that advisors can actually reliably open and print the fact finder.

- ALL: We fixed display of Start Age showing in e+ notation on the Special Expenses screen. If you see this again let us know but it should be fixed now.
- ALL: We added file backups for all data file changes. If you do have any data loss or issues with files you can recover the files from the Backups folder under the application's documents tree.
- PRO: We have several reports of sporadic data loss from the secondary screens for Investments, Cash Infusions, and Special Expenses. We have done extensive testing and found one click path that would cause this and have now fixed it. We do not know if this fixes it 100% though so please continue to report any issues.
- PRO: If you had a Client File open and then without closing or saving, clicked on File -> Open Client the software would NOT automatically save the open file and it would not prompt you to save the open file. We have changed this so that it will open a dialog and ask you whether you want to save the current file before opening the new file. Without this, you could have lost changes in an existing file by not saving and trying to open a different file.
- PRO: Fixed window un-maximizing on File -> Close Client. It will now stay maximized if you have it maximized.
- PRO: Installer was no longer installing the Fact Finder document. Believe this is due to an error when creating the 2016 installers. We have gone back and added this into the Professional Edition installer.
- ALL: Added more columns for Cash Infusions to break out the Gross values before taxes and then another set of columns for the After-Tax columns. We did this to match the Windows version AND to show a client the numbers in more detail because they questioned the calculations.
2016.2b
- ALL: Fixed Excel export problem where data was shifted over one column from headings
- ALL: Also changed Excel export to have the operating system handle the document. If you have other apps configured to open Excel documents then those will now work. Example: Star Office
- Fixed the Most Recently Used File list for the advisor version. We had disabled this before because it wasn't working correctly. It now will open the file AND present the client file name and birthdate screen so that you can review it and make changes if necessary.
2016.1
- Completely overhauled the printed report to use a new printing engine. The printouts are now clear and not blurry even on higher resolution printers. You can see the Print Preview clearly now. We also added alternate row shading to any of the data pages that look better and make it easier to read.
- The Print Current Window code would work on the small minimized size windows but not when maximized to the display size. This code has been overhauled and now works properly.
- The Print Current Window printout before did not show the buttons and the graph sometimes did not fit. This all now works as we intended it to capture the state of the current window including the data rollover function on the graph.
